Sold – Bella Notte Scene with Lady, Tramp, Wine, Breadsticks, Meatballs, and Spaghetti with Disney Background
This animation art piece is a wonderful 3 production cel set-up from Lady and the Tramp’s beloved Bella Notte scene. Lady and the Tramp was released in 1955, one month before the opening of Disneyland, and this original piece from the film was released by the studio to accompany the opening of the theme park. One cel is Lady looking adoringly at her sweetheart, one cel is Tramp (with the load of spaghetti in his mouth), and the third cel is the table with tablecloth, spaghetti and meatballs plate, the breadsticks and candle. The matching oil painting background was specially created at Disney Studios by the Disney Art Props Department using the original background layout drawing for inclusion in this remarkable set-up. It is in mint condition, and is in the original Disneyland Art Corner mat with the original Disneyland gold label certificate of authenticity on the reverse. A long time Disney employee who later helped open the Art Corner was given the privilege of purchasing this piece and was the source for this historically important, quite rare, and most iconic Disney image.

This piece of animation art was assembled and released by Disney Studios as a signature piece for the opening of Disneyland in 1955, and specifically for the opening of Disney’s Art Corner; the store in Disneyland that was an outlet for Disney animation art. The original painted background is unique among Art Corner animation art pieces which have at most printed backgrounds on thin paper or no background at all. To paraphrase – “This is the animation art, it’s beautiful animation art, and they call it Bella Notte”.
